Before you replace concrete in Waukee
Under Waukee Code 136.04, the owner of the abutting property must keep the public sidewalk between the property line and the curb in a safe, hazard-free condition.
Waukee Code 115.06 requires work done under a right-of-way permit to follow the Des Moines Metropolitan Design Standards Manual, the Waukee Standard Specifications and SUDAS (Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications).
Waukee's Sidewalk Installation Design Standards call for a 4-foot public sidewalk at least 4 inches thick in C-4 concrete. Where it crosses a driveway, it is thickened to 6 inches or the driveway's thickness, whichever is greater.
