Before you replace concrete in Johnston
Johnston Code Section 140.03 makes it unlawful to build a new curb cut or driveway approach, or to enlarge or modify an existing one, without first getting a permit under Chapter 141 (Rights-of-Way Work).
Under Johnston Code Section 136.04, the abutting property owner is responsible for keeping the public sidewalk between the property line and the curb in a safe, hazard-free condition.
Johnston Code Section 140.06 requires curb cuts and driveway approaches to be built to the Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS) plus the special provisions adopted by the City Council.
