Under Ankeny Code Section 152.05, the City Council may give the property owner 30 days' certified-mail notice to fix an unmaintained sidewalk. If the work is not done, the city may do it and charge the cost to the property.

Under Ankeny Code Section 152.08, sidewalks repaired, replaced or built under the city's sidewalk chapter must follow the City's standard specifications, and the work is subject to the Public Works Director's inspection and approval.

Ankeny's single-family residential guidelines limit a driveway to 24 feet wide at the sidewalk (some plats allow only 14 feet), and two driveways serving the same property must be at least 20 feet apart.
